Conangles Forest and Barravés Area
Located in the northernmost part of Alta Ribagorça, close to the Val d’Aran,
the Conangles Forest is one of the most emblematic natural areas in the upper
Barravés valley.
This area is known for its extensive fir and beech forests, waterfalls,
mountain streams and the spectacular Pyrenean landscapes that surround it.
Among the best-known places are the Saut de Molières and the popular
Salto de Senet, a spectacular waterfall located near the
village of Senet, formed by waters descending powerfully from the high mountains.
From this area visitors can also access several high-mountain routes,
including the trail leading to the Besiberri Lake, one of
the most renowned natural spots in the region, surrounded by iconic Pyrenean
peaks and landscapes of great natural value.
The paths and trails in the area allow visitors to discover humid forests,
small streams and ancient communication routes between Ribagorça and the
Val d’Aran, within an environment of outstanding natural and scenic beauty.
In autumn, the forest becomes one of the most spectacular places in the
Pyrenees thanks to the colours of the beech trees and the contrast with the
fir forests and surrounding mountains. During summer it is an ideal place
for walking, hiking or simply enjoying the tranquillity of high-mountain forests.
The Barravés area also preserves an important natural and landscape heritage
linked to the villages of the valley, the old livestock trails and the
constant presence of water, a defining feature of the Pyrenean landscape.
