Aigüestortes National Park
The National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici, created on October 21, 1955, is one of the natural areas included in the Network of National Parks of the Spanish State and the only one of its kind in Catalonia. If you want to obtain more information about the Aigüestortes National Park or consult the different activities that are proposed, you can go to the Casa del Parc de Boí or the Senet Information Center
Within its area of almost 40,000 hectares, we find all the characteristic elements of the high mountains well represented. Of this extension, 14,119 hectares strictly correspond to the National Park, which is divided into two well-differentiated sectors: Aigüestortes in Alta Ribagorça, accessible from Vall de Boí and Sant Maurici in Pallars Sobirà, which has its entrance to the Espot valley.
- Recommended itineraries from the Vall de Boí and the Vall de Barravés
- The Park has brochures specific to each sector with different recommended itineraries, some even self-guided, which you can request from the information centers of the region. There are also panoramic viewpoints located at various points of the Park.
- Stages of the Camins Vius crossing. The Tour of the Park
- Itinerary of circumvallation around the Park that connects three historic ports such as Vielha, the port of Bonaigua and the port of Rus.
- Breaking barriers. The Park has 3 itineraries in the Boí i Senet area that are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility or disabilities. Wooden walkways with swingers and gentle slopes, reserved parking spaces… are some of the initiatives that make it possible for these people, both individuals and organized groups, to enjoy the landscapes of the Park to the extent of their possibilities.
- On the other hand, people with visual impairments can also ask for a tactile model to carry during their tour of the central area of the Park, which will allow them to locate themselves more easily in the environment where they are and have interpretive posters in Braille. Both groups have interpreter guides with specific training to attend to them at any time of the year
- Park bus with service from the end of June to September 30
Another activity of the Park are the guided outings with snowshoes that allow you to discover in a fun way and get to know the corners and landscape of the Park in winter.
