How to reach the faro of Durro

From the village of Durro, situated at an altitude of 1,397 metres, cross through the village and follow the paved track that climbs up to the hermitage of Sant Quirc, declared a World Heritage Site.

On the same flat area as the hermitage, at its southern end, stands the faro, located at an altitude of 1,494 metres, in an elevated spot with privileged views over the Vall de Boí.

The falla and the tradition

After dinner, the fallaires light their falles and descend to the hermitage. There, after performing the Fallansesa, they kneel and pray the Lord’s Prayer, keeping alive the solemn character that is so distinctive of Durro.

The falla may be Ribagorçan in style or of the rentiner type. The faro is made up of a tall pine tree surrounded by small pines arranged in a tipi-like structure, filled with bundles of boxwood so that it burns strongly.

Once the ritual has ended, the fallaires begin the descent towards the village, where the celebration continues.
