Salencar de Llesp

To get to Salencar de Llesp, we can do it on foot, from the nearby villages of Llesp, Pont de Suert, Castilló de Tor, Cóll, Pont de Saraís, Iran or Barruera, or by vehicle, arriving directly at the crossroads of the village of Llesp.

In this case, we propose to start the route from the junction with the L-500 road, access to Llesp, where we will follow the existing directional signs.

In this space, a wetland that is part of the Natura 2000 Network, and which occupies about 30 hectares, we can find plant and animal communities typical of mountain wetlands. It is a place of special importance for its rarity and for being a transit area for migratory birds.

Due to the characteristics of the terrain and the filling of sediments, there has been a notable extension of a willow (habitat of community interest) where several species of willows stand out: white willow (Salix alba), twill (Salix eleagnos), willow (Salix purpurea) and trigger (Salix atrocinerea catalaunica). These species, which are popularly called salencas, make up a low-lying riverside forest, “el salencar”, which gives its name to this place.

We can enjoy this space from different installed viewpoints , elevated walkways and through interior paths that we will find in the middle of a well-structured riverside forest, with large areas of helophytic vegetation and extensions of submerged grasslands, which make this wetland an enclave of high natural interest.

Lovers of birdwatching and fauna in general will find different species typical of riverside habitats, such as ducks, moorhens or herons. Water snakes, different types of amphibians, and even some otters are also common. These species coexist in an aquatic habitat that is very well preserved due to its lush vegetation.

It should be noted that some of the spaces for public use in this space are adapted for people with reduced mobility and visual difficulties (information panels in Braille).

Undoubtedly, Salencar de Llesp is a place that, due to its beauty and natural wealth, will not leave the enthusiastic, sensitive and attentive traveler indifferent.
