The region of Alta Ribagorça is home to an important architectural heritage that has given visibility to the region around the world, thanks mainly to the group of Romanesque churches in the Vall de Boí declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Parallel to this scenario, which is pleasantly recognized, there is another that is partly silenced and in some cases forgotten. Hermitages and churches that had formerly developed a religious and social action, are now closed or, in the best of cases, waiting to be opened one day a year for a local holiday.
The “Més Romanic” project aims to contribute a grain of sand to the lack of knowledge and make visible the architectural, historical and landscape heritage of our places. Initially. More Romanesque includes twelve constructions, with the aim of expanding it in the coming years to show that heritage that demands better visibility and not forgetting.
All of them remind us and tell us past stories, closely linked to the territory and that are part of its identity. We suggest you discover them while walking along ancient traditional paths and at the same time observe the richness of the mountain landscapes where they are located, which in many cases are the result of centuries of human activity.
