Santa Maria de Taüll

Basilica church, with three naves separated by columns.

Chancel, with three semi-cylindrical apses.

Bell tower with a square tower, integrated into the building.

Exterior sculptural decoration in the apses and bell tower with a saw frieze, blind arches and Lombard bands.

The temple was completely decorated inside with mural paintings, torn down between 1919 and 1923. They are preserved in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona.

It is worth mentioning the scenes of the Last Judgment, Hell and in the central apse the copy of the paintings of the Maiestas Mariae with the Child, the Apostles and animals of the Bestiary.

The church was consecrated on December 11, 1123.
