This year, the municipality of Pont de Suert is excited about a unique event that unites culture, performing art, gastronomy, sustainability and the beauty of its natural environment: La Cabanera Fest. The festival, which is held for the first time, takes place on May 18, turning the streets of the town into a great stage.

The Cabanera Fest is not just a celebration, but an opportunity to highlight the value of the municipality and enhance its identity. From its most remote corners to its 27 villages.
The name of the Festival “La Cabanera” transports us to an authentic connection with the territory, symbolizing the path that animals take towards the mountains, surrounded by fields. It is a space of union between the agricultural and livestock sectors, between territories, valleys and people. After the recent inclusion of transhumance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in December 2023, the cabanera that passes through our municipality has become a living testimony of this traditional legacy and we want to celebrate it!

The festival wants to highlight the agri-food sector, both agricultural and livestock, and promote the region’s km 0 product, highlighting its wide range and the quality of the gastronomic and artisanal offer. In addition, La Cabanera Fest presents a program of live arts, interactive workshops and environmental awareness spaces, all inspired by the cultural and natural wealth of the municipality.

One of the most anticipated moments of the festival is the viewing of the short documentary film on the agri-food sector and the tasks of agricultural and livestock workers and producers in the municipality, highlighting their work and contributions. This documentary not only illustrates local stories and traditions, but also offers a look at the beauty and complexity of rural life in Pont de Suert and highlighting the importance of its value.
